Spiders win their fourth straight taking down NC A&T 20-17

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Spiders had a strong run game on Saturday, winning 20-17 against North Carolina A&T. This marked their fourth straight win and second in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).

Junior running back Zach Palmer-Smith rushed for a career-high 200 yards and a touchdown. Freshman Andrew King also shined, rushing for 100 yards and scoring a touchdown. Together, they helped the team average 8.2 yards per carry, the first time two Spiders rushed for over 100 yards in a game since 2015.

Richmond gained 286 rushing yards, outpacing A&T’s 349 total yards. With this victory, Richmond improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the CAA, while A&T fell to 1-5.

After going down 10-0, Richmond quickly responded with a 63-yard touchdown run from King. They tied the game with a 33-yard field goal just before halftime. Palmer-Smith then helped the team take the lead with another field goal and scored again later in the game.

A&T scored on a long pass in the fourth quarter, but Richmond’s defense held strong, forcing a turnover. The Spiders then ran out the clock to secure the win.
