Cold front lowers temps in the Triad on Thursday

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A cold front swept through the Piedmont overnight and temperatures are going to cool down modestly today.

While highs will be lower, in the mid-70s, that is still five degrees above normal.  It’s going to be chilly overnight, with lows settling into the mid-40s under clear skies.

Sunshine stays put on Friday with highs in the mid-70s.

A more powerful cold front is forecast to cross the state on Saturday, so get ready for bigger swings in temperature as the new week begins.

Ahead of the front, highs will be at least 10° warmer than normal on Saturday, topping out near 80°! We will see some scattered clouds moving in Saturday afternoon and some areas may get a sprinkle as the cold front comes through.

Sunday is going to be partly cloudy with highs in the lower-60s. Sunny skies return Monday with highs in the mid-60s.

The whiplash weather continues through the middle of next week! Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures are going to warm back up to the lower-to-mid-70s under mostly sunny skies.
