GREENSBORO — Logan Locklear says he’d never been so nervous before a round of golf as he was at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s 7A Central Regional on Tuesday. But once he teed off, the nerves went away, allowing the Purnell Swett junior to simply play his game.
“Once I started playing, everything became natural, and I just tried to stay positive all day and make good swings,” he said. “It was a tough golf course, so staying patient was a big thing for me.”
Locklear shot a 4-over-par 75, finishing in a tie for fifth and advancing to the state championship. Lumberton’s Jesse Pittman shot 6-over 77, finishing tied for 10th to also advance to states.
