PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — This is a day of transition when it comes to the weather forecast as a new, wetter pattern starts to develop.
We are starting with clear skies and mild temperatures across the Piedmont, but as a cold front sags southward, rain chances increase to 60% this afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms are possible, but severe weather is not in the forecast. For the first time in quite a while, highs won’t reach the lower-90s! We are expecting high temperatures to reach the mid-80s this afternoon.
Showers and a few thunderstorms continue overnight with lows in the upper-50s. The chance of rain is 90%.
A coastal low reinforces a cool, northeast flow over central North Carolina on Friday, so highs are going to be dramatically lower. We will have cloudy skies with a 30% chance of showers. Highs are expected to top out around 67 degrees…
