Tenants given 24 hours to vacate ‘unsafe’ Thomasville apartments

THOMASVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — Given less than 24 hours’ notice, residents at a Thomasville apartment complex were forced to evacuate Friday morning due to hazardous conditions in the building.

On Thursday, the city and fire marshal notified tenants at the Carolina Apartments on Winston Street that they needed to leave by 1 p.m. on Friday due to city code violations.

An emergency order-to-vacate notice states that the building was determined unsafe for human occupancy due to the following hazardous conditions. See the full notice below.

Thomasville City Manager Michael Brandt provided FOX8 with the following statement regarding the order:
