Two arrested in ongoing April shooting investigation on Bryant Court in Mebane, police say

MEBANE, N.C. — Two men have been arrested in connection with an April shooting into an occupied home and armed robbery in Mebane, police said Saturday.

Aloysius Jackson Jr., 17, of Graham, and Vernon Velez, 19, of Mebane, were taken into custody May 22 and charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, armed robbery and related firearm offenses, according to the Mebane Police Department.

The charges stem from an April 6 incident at the intersection of Bryant Court and Airport Road, where officers responded to reports of gunfire directed into an occupied residence. Investigators secured two crime scenes — the Bryant Court residence and an undeveloped roadway on Beechcraft Drive — where they recovered multiple shell casings…
