SCDOT announces detours ahead of closing Pickens Co. bridge for repairs

PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation announced the closure of a Pickens County bridge ahead of summer repairs.

Officials said the Pumpkintown Highway (SC-8) bridge over Oolenoy River will close beginning June 1 to allow for routine repairs and upgrades to improve overall safety.

Weather dependent, officials said the project should be completed by the end of the summer.

Motorists can use Highway 11, Highway 178, Moorefield Memorial Highway and Main Street for detours, according to officials. Drivers are asked to slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone…
