Evacuation lifted after natural gas leak in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — An evacuation has been lifted following a reported natural gas leak Thursday morning in Spartanburg County.

Spartanburg County Emergency Management alerted residents within a half-mile radius of the rupture that occurred on Floyd Road near Floyd Road Extension to evacuate the area. Close to 700 Duke Energy customers were without power during the incident.

Nearby businesses made schedule changes due to the incident. The Charles Lea Center’s main campus on Burdette Street told 7NEWS that all-day program participants were relocated to the Ingles at 2375 Chesnee Highway until the evacuation was lifted.
