SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Spartanburg County is asking a federal judge to order restitution in the Chuck Wright case after a victim impact statement outlined significant financial losses the county says were caused by the former sheriff and two co-defendants.
In the filing, Spartanburg County said the actions of Chuck Wright, Amos Durham, and Lawson B. Watson caused direct and indirect losses, impaired law enforcement capacity and “resulted in one of the most significant breaches of public trust.” The county said it is still experiencing the impact.
