Man accused of using sword in Upstate burglary asks judge for bond

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A man accused of using a sword during a burglary at a Spartanburg County business appeared in court to ask for bond on Thursday.

Jaron Riddick, 24, is facing the following charges:

  • Assault & battery high & aggravated
  • Burglary, 2nd degree
  • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
  • Trespassing

In April, officials say Riddick went to the Walmart in Boiling Springs and tried to buy a gun, but an employee refused to sell him one.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said Riddick then showed up to a flooring business with a sword and started banging on the business’s door. He then ran from deputies and was later arrested…
