GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office said a Greenville man has been convicted and sentenced in connection with an armed robbery and shooting in 2023.
Officials said a jury found 28-year-old Calvin Lee Thompson Jr. guilty of attempted murder, armed robbery, conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
The conviction stems from an armed robbery on July 3, 2023, the solicitor’s office said. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots, seeing the victim running, then hearing one or two more shots before a white car fled at a high rate of speed.
Investigators said the co-defendant’s phone, shell casings and a black sneaker were found nearby. The solicitor’s office said a vehicle matching the description was later located in Spartanburg, and during a search, officers found a gun, a black sneaker, marijuana and other items.
