SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Federal prosecutors pushed back Wednesday against former Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright’s request for a lower prison sentence, arguing he abused his community’s trust while in office.
Wright served as Spartanburg County sheriff for more than 20 years before stepping down amid a federal investigation. FOX Carolina Investigates first reported on the investigation in April 2025. Wright then pleaded guilty in October to multiple federal charges.
