Pickens County Coroner Identifies Easley Man Killed When Vehicle Struck Lawn Mower on Jim Hunt Road

PICKENS COUNTY, SC — Authorities in Pickens County say a Saturday morning crash on Jim Hunt Road near Highway 183 left one man dead after a vehicle hit a lawn mower in the roadway. The coroner’s office said the mower’s driver was thrown from the machine and later died at a local hospital.

The victim was identified as 69-year-old David Brian Gossett Sr. Investigators said the crash happened around 9:15 a.m. in the Easley area.

Crash Details

According to officials, the lawn mower was traveling or positioned in the road when oncoming traffic struck it. The impact caused the person operating the mower to be ejected.

The coroner’s office said Gossett was taken to a nearby hospital after the collision. He was pronounced dead there.
