Fountain Inn Museum to highlight Frances Virginia Tea Room in upcoming event

This week, the Fountain Inn Museum will host a guest lecture exploring the history of the Frances Virginia Tea Room and its connection to Fountain Inn.

Local author and historian Mildred H. Coleman will speak at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, as part of the museum’s Hooked on History lecture series. The free event will tell the story of the Frances Virginia Tea Room, a popular Atlanta restaurant that served thousands of guests each day in the 1940s.

Coleman is the author of the Frances Virginia Tearoom Cook Book, first published in 1981 to preserve the tea room’s recipes and history. The tea room’s co-owner, Agnes New, was a Fountain Inn native and the daughter of local journalist Caroline Coleman…
