SIMPSONVILLE, SC — Greenville County deputies have made a second arrest in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man found in the roadway in Simpsonville. Investigators said the case began Friday night after a 911 call reported a gunshot victim near Gorman Place.
When deputies arrived just before 7:45 p.m., they found Jordan Rouse with at least one gunshot wound. Officials said he was pronounced dead at the scene as detectives started working to piece together what happened.
First arrest came a day after the shooting
On Saturday, deputies said 20-year-old Nylen Antraveon Harris was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Authorities did not immediately release further details about what led investigators to Harris.
The arrest marked the first major development in the case, which has drawn attention in Simpsonville and the surrounding Greenville County area because of where the victim was found and the timing of the response.
Second suspect taken into custody in Fountain Inn
