GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The annual Warbird Weekend Static Aviation Show returns to Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) this weekend with historic aircraft, aviation displays and family-friendly activities.
Officials said that since opening in 1928, GMU has connected generations of the community to aviation. Warbird Weekend gives visitors an opportunity to experience that history firsthand while also discovering today’s aviation industry and the careers and opportunities it offers.
Visitors are able to see the following:
- B-25 “Rosie’s Reply” – WWII bomber that flew missions over Sicily, Italy and Brenner Pass
- C-47 “Hairless Joe” – Visitors will see part of history through the eyes of a WWII paratrooper
- T-6 Texan – Premier advanced trainer aircraft used to train pilots during WWII
- UH-1 Huey Iroquois – A helicopter known for its use during the Vietnam War
In addition to historic aircraft, an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Truck (ARFF) used by the City of Greenville and the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Drone Department are on display…
