Parents, community ‘on edge’ after shooting kills Harrisburg student

Bethany Waiwada is all too familiar with the grief that comes from losing a child. In 2019, her son, Kyler Waiwada, was shot and killed by a fellow teen in Harrisburg when he was 18 years old.

Seven years later, another killing in the city seems like deja vu for Waiwada.

Camar Cordero, 17, was shot while getting off a school bus at North Sixth and Emerald streets in Harrisburg by 16-year-old Jeremiah Moran, of Harrisburg, according to police. The shooting happened in broad daylight, at about 3:15 p.m. on May 29, in front of about a dozen terrified students…
