Demolition moves ahead at William Penn despite last-ditch preservation effort

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Days are numbered for the old William Penn High School building as fencing lines the property ahead of demolition.

The Harrisburg School Board approved a $6.5 million contract for the project by an 8-1 vote in April. After decades of neglect, it was an easy decision for many in the community, but not so for 47 alumni who tried to stop it from going ahead.
