MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — The Lower Swatara Township Board of Commissioners provided an update this week to residents concerned with delays and other issues with trash collection in the Dauphin County municipality.
In a statement posted to its Facebook page, the Board said it has received numerous complaints from residents about the issue and has discussed those concerns with Republic Services, which provides trash collection services to the township.
“The Township is required by law to publicly bid its trash contract, and the current contract was awarded in 2021,” the Board said in its message to residents. “At that time, Republic Services was the only hauler that submitted a bid, leaving the Township with no other choices for trash service providers.”…
