Dauphin County commissioner questions DA on hiring felon who made an ‘awful mistake’

More than five years after pleading guilty to felony conflict of interest for misappropriating thousands of taxpayer dollars to support a friend’s campaign for judge, Bradley Winnick got a new job — inching him closer to resuming his career as an attorney.

Winnick was approved by a 2-1 vote to start working in the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office, which has five unfilled prosecutor positions. But the move attracted controversy.

“Where people have conflict in Dauphin County, people have interest. And we continue to empower them. It’s exhausting,” Justin Douglas, the single no vote on the county board of commissioners, said Wednesday…
