A York city police officer who fatally shot a dog and wounded its owner last week was justified in firing his gun, the York County District Attorney announced Tuesday.
District Attorney Tim Barker said the investigation is not finished but he believed he had seen enough evidence through video from the officer’s body camera and vehicle to establish the officer was “completely and thoroughly justified,” because he was facing an immediate threat from the dog.
The shooting happened about 7:40 p.m. June 16 in the 300 block of W. Philadelphia Street after officers were called there for a reported “fight.”…
