Retired Harrisburg firefighter helps rescue canoeist in Susquehanna River

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — When a canoe hit a rock and overturned in the Susquehanna River on Saturday morning, it was a retired firefighter who came to the rescue.

The incident was reported to dispatch around 8:20 a.m. Saturday. One person had fallen out of the canoe and was struggling to float due to a back injury, according to Londonderry Fire Company.
