Motorists traveling through North Cornwall and West Cornwall townships should prepare for nighttime detours on state Route 72 as part of an ongoing resurfacing project.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that, weather permitting, northbound Route 72 will be closed from 6 p.m. Sunday, July 12, to 6 a.m. Monday, July 13, between the eastbound U.S. Route 322 ramp and the westbound Route 322 merge area. A detour will use Cider Press Road, Pinch Road, and Route 117.
Southbound Route 72 will be closed from 6 p.m. Monday, July 13, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, from the Route 322 east split to the entrance to the Spring Hill Acres development. That detour will use Route 117, Pinch Road, and Cider Press Road. Westbound Route 322 traffic heading to southbound Route 72 should continue west to Route 117 and follow the detour.
The closures are part of a $7 million project that includes base replacement, milling, guiderail updates, drainage work, sign replacement, and pavement marking updates along Route 72 from the Lancaster County line to Rocherty Road in North Cornwall Township, as well as sections of Route 322 near the Route 72 interchange…
