(WHTM) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced Tuesday that $1.1 billion would be invested through the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) via 280 grants given to airports in 46 states, and three of those airports are in Central Pennsylvania.
The program is intended to help with “upgrading critical airport infrastructure, adding family-friendly features and installing vehicle movement area transmitters (VMATS) onto airport vehicles.”

Harrisburg International Airport (HIA) received the largest in the region, and one of the biggest in the state this year, at $14,508,612, which will go toward taxiway rehabilitation.
