A Pennsylvania man who helped steal millions of dollars in pandemic unemployment benefits using hundreds of stolen identities has been sentenced, federal prosecutors announced on Thursday, Sept. 24.
Ardavan Alamoutinia, 36, of Hummelstown, was ordered to pay more than $3.17 million in restitution in addition to serving three years of supervised release following his prison term, according to U.S. Attorney David Metcalf.
U.S. District Judge Juan R. Sánchez sentenced Alamoutinia after he pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, 10 counts of mail fraud, theft of government money, and aggravated identity theft. He had initially been indicted in May 2023…
