DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Steelton pastor, Rosemary Tonkin, said she is forgiving the man accused of setting fire to the 20 foot high cross outside St. John’s Lutheran Church in Steelton, as the congregation looks to repair the damage and move forward.
Tonkin said members of the church discovered the damage Sunday morning coming in for service and were emotional at the sight. “We just had the tears,” Tonkin said.
Authorities have identified 27-year-old Dequire Cannon, of Steelton, as the person responsible. Officials responded to the church around 5:30 in the afternoon Saturday and saw the cross burning about 3 feet up…
