Dauphin County official completes probation, could see DUI charge dropped

A Dauphin County official accused of crashing a county-owned vehicle after drinking half a bottle of vodka has completed a diversionary court program that could result in prosecutors withdrawing a DUI charge filed against him.

Dauphin County Commissioner George Hartwick completed all conditions of the program, so Dauphin County Probation Services terminated his probation March 23, according to Sally Barry, director of the county’s probation office.

That sets the stage for prosecutors with the attorney general’s office to withdraw the single count of DUI filed against him in April 2025. If that happens, it will be the second time he has had a DUI charge expunged from his record…
