Sleeping family awoke to find their Dauphin County home on fire

A family of six was displaced after a Thursday morning fire destroyed the back of their Lower Paxton Township home, fire officials said.

Family members told PennLive they were sleeping around 5 a.m. when the fire broke out in their house in the 300 block of Village Road.

One family member awoke to the smell of smoke, and moments later, smoke alarms sounded, prompting her to call 911 and wake the others to evacuate as flames engulfed the back of the house…
