HELPING ONE OF THEIR OWN: Fire company turns regular fundraiser into benefit for fire victim

ESTHERTON, Pa. (WHTM) — A local fire company is using a regular fundraiser to help one of their own in need and it sold out quick.

The Rescue Fire Co. of Susquehanna Township held their annual chicken barbecue Saturday morning at the firehouse in the Estherton section of the township, just north of uptown Harrisburg.

Chief Marvin Reist said the fundraiser, a semi-annual effort to support the fire company, is benefitting a longtime member in need.

“His family is always giving to the community,” Reist said. “Recently, they had a fire in their own residence and this is just a way for us to say thank you and help give back.”…
