SHIPPENSBURG — There wasn’t an ounce of regret in Joseph Murphy’s being when he picked himself up at the finish, blood and scrapes all over the arm that broke his fall.
The Hershey senior, in the final moment of his career with Trojans, left it all out as he dove for the finish line among the head of the pack during the PIAA Class 3A boys 800-meter. He bundled past the plane, breaching state bronze at 1:51.61.
He was a hair behind champion Josh Sharp of Upper Darby (1:51.44) and runner-up Aiden Janowics (1:51.52) of Wallenpaupack. Standing third on the podium in Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium, Murphy knew the pain would be temporary and was resolute in his all-out finish…
