Pre-dawn gunfire ripped through a car in East Oakland’s San Antonio neighborhood today, leaving a 20-year-old passenger wounded and a vehicle chewed up with bullet holes, according to police.
The shooting happened around 4:27 AM in the 2000 block of International Boulevard, where a volley of shots hit a car carrying two men, authorities said. A 20-year-old El Sobrante man riding in the passenger seat was struck twice in the leg and taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The driver was not injured, but the car was left riddled with bullet damage.
Investigators said the rounds may have come from another vehicle or from someone firing from the street, and a city gunshot-detection alert logged more than three dozen shots in the area, as reported by The Mercury News.
