Drivers on I-880 this week may have noticed a curious ad flashing at them from a billboard next to the highway. A black-and-white image depicts a muscular man in a tank top superimposed against the skyline of downtown Oakland.
“Son of Oakland,” the sign reads. “For the People, with the People.”
Squinting, drivers may not be able to make out the face of the mystery man. But many will immediately recognize the distinctive tagline of District 7 Councilmember Ken Houston, who refers to himself as “Son of Oakland.” The image on the billboard is the same one that Houston uses as a cover photo on Facebook…
