‘College GameDay’ Host Rece Davis Pulls Off Legendary Day on Saturday

While staying up to watch the final window of games may be tiring for college football fans, it may be safe to say that no one in college football has had a longer day than Rece Davis.

As detailed by a release by the Cal Golden Bears program, Davis and company had themselves an early start to the day. Along with the other panelists, the ESPN “College GameDay” host was up at 4:30 am PT, recording TV spots from the Memorial Glade ahead of the meeting between the No. 8 Miami Hurricanes and Cal Golden Bears. The “College GameDay” did this until the show began airing at 6:00 am PT, which Davis then hosted with intense passion until 9:00 am.

While his day was supposed to end, Davis was called upon to call the game, which kicked off at 7:30 pm PT. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Davis was needed to replace Dave Flemming, who was unable to call the game due to a personal matter.

“Late change for ESPN regarding announcers for UM-Cal tonight,” Jackson wrote . “Rece Davis (already in Berkeley for College GameDay) will step in on play-by-play because of a personal matter for Dave Flemming, who often calls those 10:30 ESPN games. Former Fins QB Brock Osweiler is the analyst.”
