Bay Bridge crash snarls westbound traffic Friday morning

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A crash involving a motorcycle on the Bay Bridge snarled traffic for westbound commuters Friday morning. The collision occurred around 5:47 a.m.

Two left lanes on westbound Interstate 80 were blocked west of Treasure Island, according to the California Highway Patrol, before reopening at 6:53 a.m. Motorists who sought to travel into San Francisco from Oakland earlier faced delays of over an hour.

The backup caused an estimated travel time of 70 minutes to get from the MacArthur Maze in Oakland to Fremont Street in San Francisco, according to KRON4 Traffic Anchor Reyna Harvey. After the lanes reopened, drive times across the Bay Bridge dropped to 22 minutes as of 7 a.m.

Further details on the motorcycle crash are unknown at this time…
