Pam Bondi Returns to Washington with Cancer Bandage Amid Epstein Investigation

Additional Coverage:

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi made a notable return to Washington, D.C., arriving at a congressional building with a bandage visible on her neck just hours after receiving treatment for thyroid cancer. Bondi is set to meet privately with the House Oversight Committee to discuss her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.

The House panel had initially issued a subpoena in March, requiring Bondi to give a formal deposition under oath, with the proceedings to be video-recorded and made public. However, the hearing format was later revised. Instead of a formal deposition, Bondi’s appearance will take the form of a transcribed interview, which does not require swearing-in or recording.

Bondi’s reemergence in the capital follows her recent diagnosis and treatment for thyroid cancer, which reportedly came shortly after she left the Justice Department. According to sources close to her, she has been recovering well from surgery in recent weeks.

In addition to her congressional appearance, Bondi has been appointed to the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, an advisory committee focused on AI policy. The council, led by David Sacks and Michael Kratsios, includes numerous technology executives.

Vice President J.D. Vance praised Bondi’s continued involvement, calling her “an enormously valuable asset to the president’s team.”

During her tenure at the Justice Department, Bondi was a staunch defender of former President Donald Trump. She notably pushed back against Democratic lawmakers’ questioning about the Epstein investigation and other issues, openly aligning herself with Trump and criticizing past investigations targeting him. Despite this, Trump ultimately dismissed Bondi, reportedly due to frustration over her perceived lack of aggression in prosecuting his political adversaries and the controversial handling of the Epstein files.

Following her departure, Trump publicly criticized Bondi on social media, urging her to take action against several political figures, including former FBI Director James Comey, Senator Adam Schiff, and New York Attorney General Letitia James. He accused her of inaction, demanding indictments against those he views as political enemies.
