Rapper Skepta has voiced strong concerns over the safety of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter, North West, after a video surfaced showing the 13-year-old being hugged by an adult man during Paris Fashion Week.
The footage, shared on social media, captures North at the Verements Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show, where she initially extends her hand for a handshake before embracing the man and posing for a photo. Skepta took to X to express his frustration, arguing that North should not have been put in a situation where she was interacting closely with strangers.
“A blind man could see she wanted a handshake,” Skepta wrote, emphasizing that North’s body language did not indicate comfort with the hug. He went on to say, “My fans know I try to stay out of [people’s] business but the way grown men, complete strangers try to use North makes me sick.”
When questioned whether hugging was now considered inappropriate, Skepta firmly reiterated that North’s gesture was clear, adding, “She is 13 years old. And she put her hand out for a handshake, you don’t ignore that.”
The rapper also called on parents to “protect your kids,” expressing concern over what he sees as a growing lack of awareness about boundaries and appropriate behavior. He suggested that schools should consider teaching students about reading and respecting body language.
North West, the eldest child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has frequently been in the spotlight, often sparking debate about her upbringing. Last September, Kim faced criticism after allowing North, then 12, to get a finger piercing and wear a corset during a trip to Rome. Many social media users questioned whether such choices were appropriate for a child of her age.
One TikTok user commented, “NORTH IS 12!!!!! She’s a literal child.
Why is her mother and all those grown-ups around her allowing her to dress and act like this??? Don’t get me started on the piercing.
Sexualizing herself like this at such a young age is just so wrong.”
Others echoed similar sentiments, criticizing the parenting choices and expressing concern about North’s public image and the pressures of growing up in a high-profile family.
Kim and Kanye share four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. The ongoing public scrutiny highlights the challenges celebrities face in balancing their children’s safety, privacy, and self-expression in the public eye.
