Inside Look at Donald Trump’s ‘Patriotic’ Air Force One Meal Raises Eyebrows

Additional Coverage:

A glimpse inside President Donald Trump’s Air Force One dining experience was recently shared by Monica Crowley, the administration’s chief of protocol and former Fox News contributor. Crowley posted a photo of what she dubbed a “Patriotic Freedom 250 meal” aboard the newly gifted $400 million Qatari Air Force One. The modest tray featured a hamburger slider, a small hot dog, and two desserts decorated with red, white, and blue icing.

This isn’t the first time the menu from Air Force One has attracted public attention. Back in May, during Trump’s extended trip to China for a summit with President Xi Jinping, communications adviser Margo Martin shared the in-flight menu that included beef stir-fry, spring rolls, and a fortune cookie – though reports suggested the actual meal didn’t quite live up to expectations.

On the Fourth of July, Trump marked the holiday by serving passengers custom cookies featuring his face carved into Mount Rushmore alongside George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The unique treat was shared on Instagram by his new daughter-in-law, Bettina Trump.

Trump’s eating habits have drawn commentary within his own administration. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F.

Kennedy Jr. once remarked on a podcast that he was surprised Trump remained healthy given his diet, which Kennedy described as “poison.” Kennedy noted that while Trump tends to eat better at the White House and Mar-a-Lago, he often opts for junk food when traveling.

Shortly after these remarks, Trump and his Air Force One entourage celebrated Kennedy’s MAHA healthy eating guidelines rollout with cheeseburgers topped with fried eggs and bacon.

In an earlier 2024 incident, Kennedy was photographed holding a McDonald’s Big Mac aboard Trump’s private jet, surrounded by the president-elect’s inner circle. Donald Trump Jr. captioned the photo with, “Make America Healthy Again starts TOMORROW.”

Despite his unconventional diet, Trump has repeatedly asserted that he is in “perfect health.” However, a 2025 podcast interview with Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters revealed astonishment at the volume of food Trump consumes. Gruters recalled Trump having “hot fries waiting for him from McDonald’s,” followed by a Filet-O-Fish, a Quarter Pounder, and a Big Mac – reportedly combining two sandwiches in one meal.

Trump’s former aides, David Bossie and Corey Lewandowski, also shed light on his preferences in their 2017 book Let Trump Be Trump, noting that aboard Air Force One, the main food groups were “McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza, and Diet Coke.”
