Pennsylvania Authorities Rescue Children Found in Neglected Home During Terror-Related Arrest
Law enforcement officers responding to a terror threat investigation in Pennsylvania made a troubling discovery when they entered a residence to arrest two adults. Inside the home, officers found two young children living in severely unsanitary and unsafe conditions.
The search warrant, executed by the FBI and local police, targeted 43-year-old Thomas Bach and 44-year-old Megan Bach on suspected terror-related charges. However, upon entering the property, authorities encountered an environment described as squalid and hazardous, prompting immediate involvement from child protective services.
The children, reported to be 5 years old and 8 months old, were found with numerous bruises and bed bug bites. The home was cluttered with trash, lacked running water, and housed approximately 40 cats and a dog, which were subsequently rescued by animal control officers. Neighbors expressed shock at the situation, noting they had no awareness the couple had children and remarking on a pervasive, foul odor emanating from the property.
In addition to the animal rescue, FBI agents confiscated several firearms, including a rifle, from the premises. The adults were taken into custody on-site and now face multiple charges.
Both Thomas and Megan Bach are charged with child endangerment and reckless endangerment. Thomas Bach faces additional charges related to conspiracy, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, and illegal firearm offenses.
His court hearing is scheduled for July 20.
The children received medical evaluation at a hospital and remain in the care of the state’s Department of Human Services. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to assess the full scope of the case.
