A recent state report has disclosed that a Walt Disney World visitor passed away after experiencing a medical emergency while on one of the park’s well-known attractions.
Documents from the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, obtained on July 16, reveal that a 54-year-old man with a pre-existing health condition suffered a cardiac emergency during his ride on It’s a Small World on April 24. The guest was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
This incident only came to public attention nearly three months later when it was included in the state’s latest theme park injury report. The report made no indication that the ride itself caused the medical emergency, merely noting that it occurred while the guest was on the attraction.
This tragic case is one of several recent deaths linked to Disney parks, although not all incidents have taken place on rides. Earlier this year, authorities initiated an investigation after a body was found at Disney Springs, with limited details released to the public.
Last fall, a separate event at Disneyland made headlines when a guest reportedly died following a possible heart attack on the Haunted Mansion ride. Other cases include a man in his 60s who suffered a medical episode at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and later died at a hospital, as well as a woman in her 40s who passed away after hospital transport. Additionally, two other guests died at Disney resort hotels during the same timeframe, one of which was confirmed as suicide.
Officials have stated that there were no signs of foul play in the publicly disclosed cases, and none of these incidents occurred while guests were riding attractions.
