WinCo Foods has issued a recall on two of its Salsa Bean Dip Trays following concerns linked to a recent peperoncini recall by G.L. Mezzetta. The move comes after potential pest contamination was identified in a specific lot of Mezzetta’s Golden Greek Peperoncini, an ingredient used in WinCo’s bean dip trays.
The Boise, Idaho-based grocery chain decided to proactively pull the affected products after a social media video highlighted the initial recall by another retailer. The recall applies to the 54-ounce Salsa Bean Dip Tray Express (UPC 2-67173-#####) and the larger 16-inch catering tray weighing 104 ounces (UPC 2-67240-#####). Both products have “Best If Used By” dates ranging from August 14 through September 25, 2026, and were sold in WinCo stores across Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
Importantly, WinCo has emphasized that it has never received any peperoncini shipments showing signs of pests, nor have there been any customer complaints related to illness or contamination from these trays. The recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution to maintain transparency and uphold food safety standards.
Given the perishable nature of these deli items, WinCo notes that the trays are unlikely to still be in consumers’ refrigerators, and all affected inventory has been removed from store shelves. However, anyone who may still have one is advised to discard it.
For further information, customers can contact WinCo Foods Customer Service at 1-800-824-1706 or use the contact form on their website. Inquiries specifically about the peperoncini recall can be directed to G.L. Mezzetta at [email protected].
