Illinois basketball standout Terrence Shannon Jr. has been cleared of all charges in his rape case, with the NBA hopeful being declared not guilty on Thursday.

The jury reached their verdict swiftly, deliberating for just a little over an hour before announcing their decision.

Following allegations of sexual misconduct during a September visit to Lawrence, Kansas, Shannon Jr. faced suspension from the Illinois basketball team after being accused of rape and sexual battery.

However, the courts overturned this suspension, allowing him to rejoin the team after a six-game absence.

From the outset, Shannon Jr. asserted his innocence, promptly turned himself in after the charges were made, and cooperated with the authorities during the investigation.

An emotional Shannon Jr. embraced his legal team and family members in the courtroom as the not guilty verdict was announced.
