Young Thug Co-Defendant Stabbed in Jail

A man charged alongside rapper Young Thug has been stabbed in jail, his lawyer confirmed. Deamonte Kendrick, who performs as Yak Gotti, is expected to appear in court Monday as jurors continue deliberations in the ongoing gang, murder, drug, and gun trial. Kendrick’s attorney stated that he is expected to recover fully from his injuries.

The trial, which began with jury selection almost two years ago, has seen prosecutors argue that YSL (Young Slime Life) is a criminal street gang responsible for several crimes. However, defense attorneys maintain that YSL is simply the name of a record label.

Four defendants, including Young Thug, pleaded guilty in October, while Kendrick and another co-defendant rejected plea deals. The jury began deliberations last Tuesday and is expected to resume on Monday after breaking for the Thanksgiving holiday.
