During a visit to Melbourne as part of their Australian tour, Meghan Markle opened up about her decade-long experience of being relentlessly targeted on social media. Speaking to young people connected with the mental health organization Batyr, the Duchess of Sussex described herself as “the most trolled person in the entire world,” revealing that she faced daily bullying and attacks for ten years.

Meghan expressed concern over social media companies’ lack of motivation to address online cruelty, saying, “I can speak to that really personally, which is why I like to listen, because it rings true for me in a very real way.” She emphasized the harsh reality behind an industry she called “completely anchored and predicated on cruelty to get clicks,” urging young people to be resilient in the face of such challenges.

Prince Harry also weighed in during the conversation, praising Australia’s decision to ban social media use for children under 16. He described the move as “epic” from a leadership perspective and highlighted the need for tech companies to be held accountable. “There’s no way that young people should be punished by being banned from something that should be safe to use,” he stated.

In related news, Meghan is set to make a guest appearance on the upcoming season of MasterChef Australia. Channel Ten announced the news with an Instagram post featuring the Duchess alongside judges Jean-Christophe Novelli, Poh Ling Yeow, and Sofia Levin. This marks Meghan’s first return to Australia since 2018, and footage from the show captured the moment she was introduced to the new contestants.
