Nicki Minaj Faces Backlash After Saying Hate Doesnt Bother Her

Nicki Minaj recently faced backlash on X after responding to online critics. The 43-year-old rapper posted on Sunday, “By now, they’ve learned that hate does not move me.

I wasn’t made with that gene. Love does, tho.

Sometimes.” This message came shortly after Justin Bieber omitted their collaboration “Beauty and a Beat” from his Coachella setlist, which sparked ridicule from some users.

Minaj’s comments also come amid growing criticism over her association with the Trump administration and the MAGA movement. In recent months, the artist has publicly aligned herself with former President Donald Trump, a notable shift from her earlier stance.

Some users responded skeptically to her post, with one questioning, “Sometimes?” Another user accused her of “tanking,” sharing an AI-generated GIF of Minaj being discarded in a trash can.

Another fan commented, “If hate didn’t move you, this tweet wouldn’t exist. Trying so hard to look unbothered.

Main character energy with no audience.”

This pivot towards Trump marks a change from Minaj’s previous criticism of the former president, particularly regarding immigration policies. In 2018, she shared a heartfelt message on social media recalling her own experience as an immigrant from Trinidad and Tobago. She expressed distress over the separation of families at the border, writing, “I can’t imagine the horror of being in a strange place & having my parents stripped away from me at the age of five,” and pleaded for an end to such policies.

Earlier this year, Minaj appeared alongside Trump at a Treasury Department event promoting “Trump accounts,” part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. These accounts offer a $1,000 pilot program contribution for eligible children.

At the event, she declared, “I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change.” She also mentioned receiving a Trump Gold Card, which she described as part of her journey toward U.S. citizenship.

According to the official government website, the Trump Gold Card program offers a path to residency for a $15,000 DHS processing fee and a $1 million contribution, promising expedited processing. Minaj tweeted about the card, attaching an image of a Chucky doll making a rude gesture, and wrote, “Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President.”

However, a White House official later clarified that the gold card Minaj received was simply a keepsake, not an official immigration document.
