Kate Cassidy, girlfriend of the late Liam Payne, has opened up about her readiness to re-enter the dating scene, nearly a year and a half after his untimely death.

Kate, 27, was in a two-year relationship with the former One Direction member before he tragically passed away in October 2024 at the age of 31. Liam’s death followed a fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, with reports indicating the presence of alcohol and cocaine in his system. Since then, Kate has been candid about her grieving process, sharing her emotions openly with the public.

On April 24, Kate took to Instagram to express her feelings about moving forward, despite facing harsh criticism from online trolls. She wrote, “I am ready to start dating again.

It has been a year and a half since Liam passed away. I think that love after loss is a big chapter within your grief journey and I don’t know how that is going to feel.”

She continued by reflecting on her past relationship and hopes for the future: “I loved being in love. I want to have kids one day, I want to have a family and I know Liam would want that for me. If the roles were reversed, I would want him to be happy and fall in love again.”

Kate emphasized that her love for Liam remains unwavering. “I will always love Liam and that will never change no matter who I meet and who comes into my life. I am going to think about Liam on my wedding day; I am going to think about him every day for the rest of my life.”

Earlier this month, Kate hinted at her interest in dating again by posting a playful TikTok video, tagging the producers of the reality show The Bachelorette and suggesting she might be a candidate. In the video, she danced on camera, captioning it, “Heard they’re looking for a new Bachelorette…. hi.”

In another TikTok, Kate addressed the reality of finding love after losing Liam, emphasizing that her future partner must accept her enduring love for him. “I will always talk about Liam, laugh about Liam, cry about Liam. Liam Payne was my boyfriend-not just a famous figure.”

She also shared the pain of being criticized for openly discussing her late partner, saying, “I would never settle for anyone who wasn’t comfortable with me speaking about Liam.” Kate described Liam as her best friend and someone she had envisioned spending her life with, but acknowledged her desire to move forward, get married, and start a family.

Concluding her heartfelt message, Kate reflected on the lasting impact of loss: “When a person dies, they die twice-once when they actually die, and the second time when you stop speaking about them. I’m not going to let Liam die twice. I will love him forever.”
