Darrell Sheets Final Facebook Posts Reveal Dark Struggle Before Storage Wars Stars Death

Darrell Sheets, widely recognized for his long-standing role on A&E’s Storage Wars, is being mourned by colleagues as attention focuses on troubling details surrounding his final days.

The 67-year-old was discovered deceased at a residence in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, early Wednesday morning, April 22. Local police reported that the apparent cause of death is suicide. His body was sent to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office as the investigation continues.

In the wake of Sheets’ passing, former castmate Rene Nezhoda spoke out about ongoing cyberbullying that Sheets had endured. Nezhoda revealed that Sheets had been subjected to persistent online harassment, including impersonation and threatening messages from an unknown individual.

“He was impersonating him with phone calls, messages, emails, websites,” Nezhoda explained. “He flat out said, ‘I’m gonna ruin you.’

You can see it clearly in Darrell’s last Facebook messages.”

Nezhoda noted that Sheets became increasingly withdrawn from social media as the harassment intensified. He also referenced one of Sheets’ final Facebook posts dated March 9, where Sheets wrote, “Hey guys, I’m happy.

Everything is great – if anything happens to me, look at these people. These are the people.”

According to Nezhoda, this post was followed by several messages related to the harassment before Sheets was found dead a month later. Nezhoda expressed uncertainty about the circumstances, stating, “I am 50/50 if he even did that [to himself].

I don’t know.”

On March 9, Sheets posted on Facebook that his account had been compromised and denied responsibility for certain posts made in his name. “The clown.

[The posts] are not done by me, they are being done by…very evil people,” he wrote. He also expressed fear for his safety, sharing that “People are showing up to my work and wanting to harm me.

The police are aware of this, but [their] hands are tied because Facebook allows this, and it is very bad.”

While online harassment is a known challenge for many reality TV personalities, Nezhoda remarked that Sheets seemed particularly affected. “He did tell me that this person is really doing a lot of stuff, but I just didn’t take it as serious, or was as concerned, because it’s just part of it,” he said.

Another Storage Wars cast member, Dave Hester, acknowledged that online criticism is common but emphasized a more detached approach. “We’ve all had a little bit of that,” Hester said. “We’ve been at this 16, 17 years, and so there’s always people who want to get on the internet and say rude things, but I don’t even pay attention to it.”

A&E released a statement following Sheets’ death, saying, “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Sheets appeared on the first 15 seasons of Storage Wars, earning a reputation for his bold bidding style and the nickname “The Gambler.” After departing the show in 2023, he opened an antique shop in Arizona named Havasu Show Me Your Junk.
