Anthony Kiedis’s girlfriend, Eileen Kelly, recently opened up about their notable 33-year age difference, offering a candid look into their relationship.
At 30 years old, Kelly shared her experience of dating someone significantly older in an essay published in Vogue titled My Boyfriend Is Double My Age. While she didn’t name Kiedis directly, the couple has been publicly spotted together several times lately, including at a post-Grammys party in February.
Kelly described this as her first time dating someone much older and quipped that she’s “been missing out my whole life.” She also touched on the public scrutiny they face, mentioning awkward moments when strangers mistake Kiedis for her father. These encounters, she said, are “incredibly awkward every time.”
The couple met at a mutual friend’s birthday party and bonded over a shared love of Hawaii, where Kiedis owns a home. Acknowledging the mixed reactions their age gap might provoke, Kelly noted it could be seen as “either alarming or impressive, depending on who you ask.”
She praised her boyfriend for being mature and emotionally grounded, writing, “There is something to be said for a man who’s simply had more time to get his s— together.” Kelly added that Kiedis is genuinely excited to be with her and isn’t just waiting to find someone else. “He is fully aware that he’s one lucky bastard,” she said.
Addressing concerns about power dynamics, Kelly emphasized her independence. “I have my own money, my own career, and I have my own home,” she wrote.

Kelly also pushed back against common stereotypes surrounding age-gap relationships-challenging the notions that older men are “creepy” or that younger women are “gold diggers” or have “daddy issues.” Instead, she asked, “Is it really so difficult to imagine that connection can exist across generations?” She described Kiedis as “interesting” and “magnetic,” emphasizing that their relationship is fundamentally normal, saying they are “mostly just two people doing the ongoing, unremarkable work of moving through life together.”
Kiedis, 63, is known for several high-profile relationships, including with actress Ione Skye in the late 1980s. He is also a father to an 18-year-old son, Everly Bear Kiedis, with ex-partner Heather Christie.
