Subway has unveiled a new $5 menu, offering customers 15 different entrees under its Fresh Value Menu, marking the chain’s first official value menu launch.
While Subway has previously experimented with discounted sandwich promotions-such as the $5 footlong deal in 2008, which boosted traffic and sales-the new Fresh Value Menu represents a broader and more permanent effort. Past attempts to maintain ongoing value menus, including efforts in 2020 and as recently as 2026, faced resistance from franchise owners, with programs like the Sub Club being modified or discontinued.
The introduction of this value menu comes amid challenging times for Subway. The chain has closed over 600 locations in recent years, reducing its domestic footprint to the smallest in two decades. Additionally, in January, one major Subway franchise operator, MTF Enterprises, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to financial difficulties, though it continues to operate several locations across Pennsylvania, Maine, New Hampshire, and Virginia.
According to Subway, the Fresh Value Menu items will be available nationwide, selected for their quality, variety, convenience, and satisfying portions-all priced at $5 or less. The company highlights that each meal is freshly made, never fried, and many options provide more than 20 grams of protein, catering to health-conscious consumers.
The menu includes several categories:
Deli Faves – Four classic, fully customizable six-inch sandwiches priced at $3.99 each, including new options like Spicy Pepperoni and Ham & Salami, alongside favorites such as the B.L.T. and Cold Cut Combo®.
Protein Pockets – A grab-and-go choice launched earlier this year, featuring more than 20 grams of protein wrapped in a soft tortilla, with varieties like Baja Chicken, Peppercorn Ranch Chicken, Italian Trio, and Turkey Ham, all priced at $3.99.
Sub of the Day – A featured six-inch sub offered daily for $4.99, with an option to add chips and a drink for an additional $2. The daily lineup includes:
- Meatball Monday: Meatball Marinara
- Tuna Tuesday: Classic Tuna
- Sweet Onion Teriyaki Wednesday: Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki
- Turkey Thursday: Oven-Roasted Turkey
- Forest Ham Friday: Black Forest Ham
- BMT Saturday: Italian B.M.T.
- Spicy Italian Sunday: Spicy Italian
Menu prices may vary by location, but Subway encourages customers to take advantage of these fresh, affordable options available nationwide.
