A 39-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to charges of threatening former Prince Andrew near his residence on the royal family’s Sandringham estate.
Alex Jenkinson faces two counts related to allegedly using threatening, abusive, or insulting language or behavior toward Prince Andrew, who lost his royal titles last year following his association with Jeffrey Epstein. The incidents reportedly occurred on consecutive days, with one involving Andrew and the other involving a different individual.
The former Duke of York is expected to testify at the upcoming trial scheduled for July 29 at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
According to reports, Andrew was confronted by a masked man shouting at him while walking his dogs near his Sandringham home. Police intervened and arrested Jenkinson on suspicion of a public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon.
This event follows Andrew’s own arrest three months ago on suspicion of misconduct in public office, linked to his connections with Epstein and his former role as the UK’s trade envoy. Earlier this year, Andrew relocated to Sandringham after being asked to leave his previous residence at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.
Andrew’s primary accuser, Virginia Giuffre, had alleged that the prince forced her into sexual encounters multiple times beginning when she was 17. While Andrew has denied these allegations, he reached a settlement with Giuffre in 2022. Giuffre tragically died by suicide in 2025.
During Friday’s remote court appearance from the King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre in Norfolk, Jenkinson, who had his arm in a sling, also pleaded guilty to failing to provide a blood specimen while in custody.
Jenkinson was released on bail under strict conditions, including a prohibition on entering Norfolk county, any contact with Prince Andrew, and maintaining a minimum distance of 500 meters from several royal residences, including Sandringham, Buckingham Palace, Balmoral Castle, Windsor Castle, and Highgrove.
