Authorities Confirm Fatal Crash of Medical Aircraft in New Mexico
A medical King Air aircraft en route from Roswell to Sierra Blanca regional airport crashed in New Mexico early Thursday, resulting in the deaths of all four individuals on board.
The aircraft, conducting a medical transport mission, failed to arrive at its destination as scheduled. Emergency responders were dispatched following reports of a fire in the Capitan Mountain area and subsequently located the wreckage.
Lincoln County officials confirmed that all four occupants perished at the scene. Out of respect for the families, the identities of those involved have not been released pending notification.
In a statement, the Lincoln County Offices of Emergency Services expressed condolences, urging the public to respect the families’ privacy and to avoid the crash site to allow emergency personnel and investigators to carry out their work safely.
The fire caused by the crash currently covers less than five acres, with the U.S. Forest Service leading suppression efforts.
Both the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have been notified and are actively participating in the investigation, which is ongoing as the cause of the crash remains undetermined.
